Depression Wears Lipstick was birthed out of my desire to see myself healthy, happy and whole. I believe that depression is real and if you do not take the time to help yourself, it can be a dangerous and unfulfilling time of your life. I went through a period in my life where I was silently hurting in the church. I would attend service every Sunday, sing in the choir and participate in various ministries, but I was slowly dying inside. After failed attempts of reaching out to the church, I was faced with my painful past. It was not until I sought out professional help, while learning to fight for who God made me to be, that I was able to pull myself from the grave.
Depression Wears Lipstick tackles mental health in a way that makes you think and act on becoming better. You will follow the journey of Toi Nichelle as she methodically explores where her depression started, her suicidal attempts, when she decided to take action, and how she fought her way through. It is desired that this book will help those individuals who may be experiencing depression, but too afraid to acknowledge it. This book serves as an outlet for the depressed, broken, abused and silenced.
